NDIS will fund a Freedom Wheels bike if it is correctly included in your NDIS Plan and it clearly supports your goals.

What Support Budget does a Freedom Wheels bike come under in my plan? 

A Freedom Wheels bike will be considered by the NDIS as ‘Assistive Equipment for Recreation’.

The line item that needs to be present in the plan is:

Support Item Reg No. 05_121806409_0112_1_2 Specialised Tricycle or Quadricycle.

How do I write a goal that will help me to get my Freedom Wheels bike?

Your goal should state something like:

My goal is to develop greater social networks and have greater inclusion in the community, through participating in activities such as cycling with friends and family. To achieve this goal I need a Freedom Wheels bike.

Does the Freedom Wheels bike need to be in my plan before my Assessment?

No. The Freedom Wheels team can assist you to get this in your plan before or after your bike assessment.

However, the bike will be approved more quickly if it is already stated in your plan, along with an appropriate goal, before your Freedom Wheels assessment.
